Pill Bugs are not insects but land crustaceans related to lobsters and shrimp. They breathe through gills, can drink through their anus, and excrete gas through their exoskeleton instead of urinating. Boston Lobster, taking off hood: if she breathes.. I wanna see him make pancakes or scrabbled eggs with that pan. If you've ever wanted to put virtual things in a magic box on your desk, this is your chance. The teeth in the thick-walled glass box look like they're embedded, a 3D model in a cube. Walk closer, and you can see that this box is a display, and it's all pixels. The Looking Glass Pro feels like a magic box. But the box is actually a PC, and the whole system is meant to look at objects that can be conjured into space without needing VR goggles or glasses. Imagine a holographic workstation of the future, and maybe this is it. The first Looking Glass lightfield display launched last year: the glasses-free 3D effect felt stunning, but needed to plugged into a PC.

If it had not been for the names of the founders and their work at Lytro, such a press release would be easy to dismiss. The word hologram gets tossed around quite a lot, but this team seemed incredibly qualified to actually deliver. Three exceptionally qualified serious light field experts. All three men were in the leadership team behind the Lytro Cinema Technology, and in particular the professional high end Cinema camera and capture system. The Light Field Lab team in the past has made both consumer and professional products and successfully delivered them to the market. Light Field Lab will use the funding to complete a prototype of their revolutionary light field display monitors, enabling perhaps for the first time real holographic objects to appear as if they are floating in space without the aid of glasses or head-mounted gear. The investment is a statement of confidence.
