Residents there have been seeking rent control. Residents of the Huntington Shorecliffs Mobile Home Park in Huntington Beach are upset over recent space rent increases and are pressing the city council for rent controls. The ballot item will allow voters to decide if the City Charter will be amended to grant a special exemption specifically for mobile and manufactured home parks. As originally proposed, the measure would have capped the amount park owners would be allowed to annually raise rent on residents whose monthly rent payment went beyond 33 percent of their gross monthly income. After discussions by the council, specific numbers were left out of the language so that discussions can be held by the next City Council regarding what figures would be appropriate.
